Happiness, gladness or joy is a mental or emotional
state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from
contentment to intense joy.
However, no one knows what happiness really means, because every one has
a different meaning to it. I believe that happiness comes both from within and
from the people you surround yourself with. Everyone these days seems to share
this very precise advice according to which you should only be with people that
are optimistic, positive and can elevate your spirit. Good, good, but what
about the rest of us? Should we be ignored? How can you tell someone to cut the
negativist people out of their life, when probably that someone is keeping
their head above water? Don’t judge the unhappy – scratch that, don’t judge at
all. If they didn’t make peace with themselves, get their mind off of it –
vodka always helps – don’t just abandon them, because that most certainly is
not what they need.
You should always guard your happiness – that is if you’ve found it.
Though, do not overlook the ones struggling with it. Being comfortable with
yourself is an accurate way to improve your mental state. I, for one, have
always been content with spending time alone, drifting through my thoughts.
This could have lead to low points, but sometimes, just sometimes, to a state
of gratitude and contentment. Truthfully, the outcome is not something you can
control, that’s why, you have to seek that feeling outside your bubble. And
happiness does not come just by being joyful and energetic around other people.
It can come from a sense of intimacy and shared feelings that you experience in
the presence of another being, just by talking about your miseries in life and
empathizing with each other.
My point is, happiness does not always come form a heavenly place –
especially for smart asses. As Hemingway used to say, happiness in
intelligent people is the rarest thing I know. For insecure/uncertain smart
people, the probability is even lower. It’s like you’ve always wanted
to be somebody, but you realize you should have been more specific. And
from that derives self-loathing and an endless string of frustrations. Is that
to say those people should be ignored just because they might ruin your
happiness? But what if you can actually, genuinely, selflessly can help them
and that would bring you more joy and satisfaction than you could dream of. Is
it worth the risk?

cry a lot – or a video on
how you should call your mother right now because she is probably the only
human that loves you unconditionally. Just do it!
Personality crisis may refer to: existential crisis,
identity crisis (undeveloped or confused identity), midlife crisis, a Canadian
punk rock group…or so wikipedia says. How something means different kinds of
something I just don’t understand. Anyway, how is yours doing?
Mine is doing swell, never been better. Now really, I
feel like I’m wasting my creativity and an intense urge to expand it bothers my
little brain. And I think I’ve believed having some personality traits that
were more or less wrong (hence the personality crisis) and I’ve denied having some – like my visual
abilities ( not as in look at me, I’m so pretty kind of way). I mean, you’re supposed to get to know
yourself and stuff, but depending on the situation, you can leave with the
impression that you are good at something, right before the shit storm that
fucks up your perspective.

Like maybe you thought “hey, I’m good with math, let’s
do math for a living”. And after years of work, your brain tells you “dude, I
mean you are good, but it’s not really what you like…and you’re actually not as
good as you think you are. have you ever considered being an athlete?”. And
your immediate response would be “ain’t nobody got time for that. I was busy
learning math because you told me this is what you’re good at, choose a career
already, maybe you don’t have any other skills – you shithead”. Then, you
obviously start questioning all you’ve done so far, thinking you might have
been the best athlete, but it’s too late for that and you have to settle for
something you don’t even know you like. Or maybe you do. Do I smell confusion?
It’ true that you can be good at many things, but an
expert just at one? And if so, how do you choose? Because it’s not like you
wake up one day and just know it (unless you’re my hairstylist who found his
calling). Maybe there’s a way you can mix your “talents” and create something
unique that will give you the greatest satisfaction, or just setting time-based
objectives to develop every one of them, sequentially, so you don’t have to
choose. Truth is, I love my mathematical/logical skills and I also love the
art-oriented part of me. So given this theory I either combine the two or just
make time for each one, individually. For something like that, 24 hours don’t
seem like enough, plus there’s the problem that having information without
taking action is like dust in the wind (procrastinators know best).
All in all, you may wanna make peace with your brain,
write down what you want, constantly, as quantifiable as possible and let him sort the thoughts and drive to somewhere you actually desire and maybe never
thought of before. Every crisis has a solution (and probably a make-belief
cause) and we just have to get our mind to work and solve it on our own terms. Align
the planets, move mountains, feed your brain only with (positive) information that you prefer
and make the best of your abilities to reach your goals and discover yourself.
You can so easily trick your mind to do what you want it to do and make your
subconscious find your way around the world, that maybe 25 hours a day are not
fiction after all.

People
believe in public figures (rockstars, youtube gurus, cool kids) more than they
believe in their own strengths…because it’s easier to reproduce what others do as
opposed to living life on their own terms.
Mostly that happens because they don’t know what they actually want or
how to achieve it or both.
Role
models are just that – models. You shouldn’t impersonate them, but rather learn
from their mistakes. Though, by all means, allow yourself to make some mistakes
too. There’s no chance you’ll learn about yourself from people you’ve never
met. And if you don’t know who YOU are, then who are you?
You
should depict raw materials, not final products. Everyone dreams of a new
beginning, because there’s no perfect ending. Since time doesn’t stop for anybody,
would you rather be anybody or yourself? Never let anyone fake your
imagination, find your own shoes and wear them with pride!
We’re
at the time when everything is the same: values, points of view, beliefs…there’s
just a few of them and we take them as our own, we fight for causes that don’t
match with our dreams. And that’s how we lose our identity and become negligible
quantity.
If
there is no place for you, you build your own place. If happiness doesn’t come
at you it’s because happiness is handmade. Go out and make your own, be
yourself, everyone is already taken.
Being
the same as everyone else is plain boring and useless. Never be jealous on what
they have, be grateful of your own possessions. If you can’t find such things dig deeper. At
least you may reach China, or the light at the end of a tunnel. Or maybe you
will find unicorns and rainbows or the living dead… Who knows? And if no one
knows it, aren’t you excited to go discover for yourself?
The
point is, you can admire creative content in all of its forms and glory, but
remember there’s something special about you…I don’t know what, but let the
world see it even if you’re scared, reluctant or afraid. Create your own
standards. Build your own future. Make your own decisions. Fulfill your dreams
and find your path regardless of what anyone might say about it. Something brilliant
will come of it, you just need a dash of courage.
